Frequently Asked Questions

Naturopathic medicine is versatile and can treat a wide range of conditions. These may include chronic illnesses like diabetes, hypertension, and autoimmune diseases, as well as acute conditions like colds and flu. Naturopathic medicine is also often used for preventive care and wellness, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, and mental health concerns such as anxiety and depression.

At Desert Wellness Center, we stay on the cutting edge of natural and alternative therapies within naturopathic medicine. We offer a variety of treatments tailored to the individual needs of our patients. These can include herbal medicine, nutritional counseling, cupping, homeopathy, nutrient IV therapy, and vitamin injections.

Depending on your therapeutic goals, we also offer advanced therapies, such as sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT), regenerative joint injections (prolotherapy and others), ozone therapy, peptide therapy, and medical aesthetics. Our licensed naturopathic physicians will craft a targeted and personalized plan for you.

Naturopathic physicians undergo rigorous training, including a bachelor’s degree followed by a four-year graduate program from an accredited naturopathic medical school. After completing their education, they must pass a series of board exams to become licensed. State licensing boards regulate the practice of naturopathic medicine and ensure that practitioners adhere to high standards of care and ethics. All of the providers at Desert Wellness Center are licensed by the Naturopathic Physicians Medical Board.

Yes. In the state of Arizona, naturopathic doctors are licensed primary care providers who specialize in holistic diagnosis and natural therapeutics. Our physicians at Desert Wellness Center are trained to offer a wide range of services, from routine check-ups and preventative care to managing common and chronic health conditions. We use the least invasive interventions possible, often beginning with dietary and lifestyle changes.

When necessary, we also have the capability to prescribe medication, perform physical therapeutics, and even conduct minor surgeries. Our focus is always on identifying the root cause of an illness, rather than just treating the surface symptoms.

Our naturopathic physicians receive extensive clinical training in a range of modalities, including:

  • Clinical Nutrition
  • Dietary Supplementation
  • Herbal Medicines
  • Homeopathy
  • Pharmaceutical Medicines
  • Minor Surgery

If a condition requires specialized care outside the scope of naturopathic medicine, our doctors will refer you to appropriate specialists.

Yes. Within the scope of practice for naturopathic physicians in the state of Arizona, the providers at Desert Wellness Center are able to prescribe some conventional prescription medications when indicated.
At Desert Wellness Center, we are an out-of-network provider for insurance companies but are happy to provide you with documentation to submit insurance claims. We offer contactless payment, accept HSA and FSA cards, and have financing options through GreenSky. Our patient care coordinator is happy to work with you and discuss payment options.
Your first appointment will be about 60-90 minutes and will include a comprehensive review of your medical history, lifestyle, and any specific health concerns you have. We will also do a head-to-toe physical exam. Based on this information, a personalized treatment plan will be formulated. You may also undergo basic diagnostic tests or be recommended for further specialized tests.
Many of the conditions that we treat with naturopathic medicine did not develop overnight and will take time to resolve. Because of that, we often recommend a follow-up plan with short appointments to monitor your progress and make changes to your treatment plan. We might also recommend in-office therapeutic procedures on a scheduled follow-up schedule, such as nutrient IVs, vitamin injections, ozone therapy, regenerative joint injections, or medical aesthetics. All of these things depend on your goals and your individual choice.
