You don’t have to feel pain.

Natural Solutions For:
PRP injection prolotherapy is an amazing pain management treatment for chronic pain from arthritis, tendonitis, old injuries, or repetitive injuries. In these cases, pain often stems from an instability in the joint. For whatever reason, the tendons, ligaments and other connective tissue around the joint have become loose or torn. PRP injection prolotherapy, also known as Cellular Regenerative Injection Technique, can repair that tear, and make the joint more stable and less painful.
Traditional prolotherapy involves an injection into the joint (similar to cortisone), except the solution that is delivered is all natural and designed to temporarily create some inflammation. This temporary inflammation signals the body to flood the area with healing and repairing cells, to strengthen and heal stretched or torn ligaments, meniscus, cartilage, etc. The biggest difference between prolotherapy and cortisone is that cortisone is designed to stop inflammation (which it does very well), but it doesn’t get to the root of the problem and so pain often comes back. Not only does it come back, but you can only have so many cortisone treatments before it starts to damage the joint. Prolotherapy gets to the root of the problem, healing the joint to create lasting pain relief.
One of the most exciting advancements we are proud to provide is in the regenerative power of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). A simple non-invasive office procedure harvests the healing properties of blood cells that can be used to treat a variety of conditions including joint pain, cartilage loss or arthritic conditions. PRP solution contains your body’s healing cells such as platelets, growth factors and stem cells. The PRP is then injected into the joint and allows the immune cells direct access to repairing the joint.
At Desert Wellness Center, we provide PRP injection treatments that are effective in treating painful or degenerated joints using cutting edge technology from Terumo to extract the most platelets possible.
Small injections of the healing PRP solution into the damaged area stimulate the natural healing response to tighten and tone ligaments. This restores the normal range of motion and eliminates joint pain — often with one treatment. Unlike cortisone, PRP does not degrade the joint; rather, it stimulates the repair of the joint.
Most patients will need just 1-2 PRP treatment to achieve full results, but that number will vary based on your individual case. Some patients experience as much as 75% relief after just one treatment!
“After having x-rays done to find out exactly what was going on with my knee, I was informed I was an excellent candidate for the procedure. I opted for the PRP procedure. Let me say this was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The weekend following the procedure was a steady progression of relief. I had the procedure on Friday and by Monday, I was at least 20% better. It is now 3 weeks following the procedure, and I am at 35-40% better. I can walk without limping or pain. I cannot adequately express how happy I am with PRP and my only regret is that I didn’t know about this procedure before and suffered as long as I had. I highly recommend anyone with joint pain from arthritis to consult with Dr. Cronin to see if this is the right procedure for you. I am extremely happy and satisfied with the results and know that my knee will continue to heal as time goes on.”

Cupping is a tremendous pain management option for chronic pain from musculoskeletal and fascial issues like frozen shoulder, fibromyalgia and joint inflammation.
You may be familiar with the term “cupping” following the 2016 Summer Olympics, when it became a trending topic after Michael Phelps was photographed with mysterious dark circles on his shoulders and back. As it turned out, Phelps was receiving the therapy to help relieve aching joints and muscles.
Cupping is a Chinese therapy that utilizes glass cups to address fascial tissue (the silvery layer attached to muscle) that can become very sensitive and painful.
In this simple procedure, the practitioner will ignite alcohol-soaked cotton balls and swirl them inside the cup to create a vacuum. The cup is then placed on the skin, where it creates a suction and stays on the tissue. Depending on the treatment needed, the cups may be left stationary for 5-10 minutes or can be run up and down the problem area. It is common to see bruising at the cupping site for a few days following a treatment.
Many patients report relief of symptoms after just a few treatments. Depending on the condition, the relief can be permanent or a patient may need periodic treatments to manage symptoms.
This technique has been developed over thousands of years, originating in China. It is a wonderful treatment for a number of ailments, including pain, headaches, stress, cold/flu, infertility, etc.
A single treatment lasts about 30-45 minutes, and some patients experience immediate results. This is something you can do weekly for an acute condition or just as needed for a “tune-up”. You can expect to have very small needles inserted into specific points in the body – they are nearly painless, and most people don’t even feel them being inserted. Once placed, you may feel a dull ache or a heavy sensation in that area, but no pain, and most people feel extremely relaxed. This means that the treatment is working.
There is no consensus on why acupuncture works – we just know that it works, and works well. Conventional medicine subscribes to the “Pain Gate Theory” essentially saying that the needles confuse your body’s pain sensing nerves, and so the needles therefore can relieve pain. Eastern medicine subscribes to the Qi (pronounced “chee”) Theory, which states that our energy flows through our body in specific ways and when that flow is disrupted it can cause pain or other symptoms. We can access that energy (or meridian) through acupuncture needles and restore normal energy flow, and thereby reduce pain or eliminate other symptoms. Either way, at the end of the day you’ll feel better!
